INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS NSW
PROJECT INFORMATION
Company
Independent Schools NSW is the peak body representing and supporting independent schools across New South Wales. Committed to advancing educational excellence, the organisation provides advocacy, professional learning, and strategic support to its member schools. As the organisation continued to grow and evolve, Independent Schools NSW sought to create a contemporary workplace that fostered collaboration, supported staff wellbeing, and reflected its commitment to innovation and leadership within the education sector.
Project Overview
Located in the heart of Sydney CBD, Independent Schools NSW partnered with TRUE Fitout & Construction to deliver a complete workplace transformation across their Level 9 office at 99 York Street.
The 600sqm fitout was designed to refresh the existing environment and create a more open, collaborative and welcoming workspace that better reflected the company’s culture and future vision. Delivered under a Design & Construct model, the project focused on maximising natural light, improving functionality and creating a warm, people-focused experience for staff and visitors alike.
CLIENT BRIEF
Independent Schools NSW sought to move away from a traditional office layout and create a more connected open-plan environment that encouraged collaboration and engagement. A key priority was unlocking natural light throughout the floorplate while creating a welcoming and personable IT hub that would act as a central point within the workplace.
The brief also called for a practical and cost-conscious approach, incorporating elements of adaptive re-use to maximise value while maintaining a high-quality finish.
PROJECT CHALLENGES
Like many refurbishment projects within existing commercial buildings, the project presented a range of complexities that required agile problem-solving and close collaboration between all stakeholders.
The project underwent extensive internal approvals process before construction commenced, requiring alignment across multiple stakeholder groups and careful planning to ensure the vision remained consistent throughout delivery.
THE TRUE SOLUTION
TRUE worked closely with the client and project stakeholders to maintain momentum and ensure the project objectives remained front of mind throughout delivery. By combining strategic planning with responsive site management, the team successfully navigated the complexities of the existing building conditions while delivering a seamless workplace transformation.
The final outcome balances functionality, warmth and flexibility — creating a workplace that feels open, connected and inviting while supporting the day-to-day needs of the Independent Schools NSW team.
Through considered design integration, adaptive re-use strategies and collaborative project delivery, TRUE delivered a future-focused environment that enhances both employee experience and workplace performance.
