Tank Stream Labs (TSL) is a technology‑focused coworking provider and a leading breeding ground for entrepreneurs, industry specialists and scaling businesses. Known for cultivating highly engaged startup communities, TSL creates dynamic environments that support innovation, collaboration and entrepreneurship.
Project Overview
Following a period of rapid growth, Tank Stream Labs expanded its footprint within the International Towers at Barangaroo, occupying 4,000 sqm across two interconnected floors. The brief called for a highly considered coworking environment that could support a broad and diverse client base—ranging from early‑stage startups to established scale‑ups—while fostering a strong sense of community.
Central to the design was a full‑height void visually connecting both floors, reinforcing openness, connection and collaboration. The space also needed to accommodate a wide variety of uses, including live studios, flexible work zones and event areas capable of hosting large gatherings.
TRUE Fitout & Construction was engaged to deliver the project as a turnkey solution, partnering closely with Tank Stream Labs to manage the journey from early design ideation through to final delivery.
THE CHALLENGE
Delivering a project of this scale and complexity within the International Towers at Barangaroo required rigorous planning and detailed coordination. The prestige nature of the building, combined with its operational requirements, necessitated close collaboration with nominated contractors, building management and specialist consultants.
The fitout also needed to balance design ambition with functionality, ensuring the spaces were flexible, robust and capable of supporting the evolving needs of a high‑growth coworking community.
TRUE SOLUTION
TRUE worked collaboratively with the Tank Stream Labs team to deliver a cohesive, future‑focused workplace that supports community, flexibility and growth. A range of environments were created to suit different working styles and business needs, including open collaboration areas, private studios, live broadcast spaces and adaptable event zones.
The feature void connecting both levels became a central element of the workplace experience, strengthening visual connectivity and reinforcing the sense of a single, unified community across the two floors.
As Principal Contractor, TRUE managed all consultants, nominated contractors and stakeholder interfaces, delivering a fully coordinated turnkey solution that met both design intent and operational requirements.
THE OUTCOME
The completed Tank Stream Labs workplace provides a highly functional and engaging co-working environment that supports innovation, collaboration and entrepreneurship at scale. The space successfully caters to a diverse member base while reinforcing TSL’s position as a leading technology coworking provider.
Delivered in 2024, the project builds on TRUE’s longstanding relationship with Tank Stream Labs, having partnered with the team to deliver multiple fitout projects across various locations. The Barangaroo workplace stands as a flagship example of a complex, large‑scale coworking environment delivered through a collaborative and seamless process.
